Michael Young is a private voice teacher in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Currently, he is on staff as a private instructor of voice at Walnut Hills High School, Indian Hill High School, Indian Hill Middle School, and Mariemont High School through Cincinnati Academy of Performing Arts, Finneytown High School, Winton Woods High School, and the Cincinnati Fusion Ensemble Institute of Music.
Michael also maintains a steady performance career as a singer. He is a first prize winner of the Palm Beach Opera International Vocal Competition, and a two-time winner of the Corbett Vocal Scholarship Competition. He performs opera and oratorio with regional companies around the country. Recent operatic engagements include Alberich in Wagner's Siegfried, Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca, Marcello in Puccini's La Boheme, and Belcore in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore. Recent concert works include Baritone solos in Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Orff's Carmina Burana, Handel's Messiah, and the title role in Mendelssohn's Elijah.
Michael happily accepts students of all ages, both male and female, for private vocal study. Through learning proper classical technique, his students find themselves in better control of their voices in all genres of vocal music.
